Grindelwald, Switzerland

Grindelwald was beautiful and unfortunately, none of these photos even compare from being there in person. Ever since I was a little girl I would go to Lake Tahoe, Mammoth, or Big Bear to ski and enjoy more of a "winter" for Christmas Break. For this reason, the snow reminds me of all of my childhood memories, which in turn made me instantly fall in love with Grindelwald. It was a ski town like the ones I had been before, however, the views were 100x as incredible.
We took a cable car up to the top of First Mountain. I am deeply scared of heights, so I found this 30 minute ride a bit scary at first, but the views took my breath (and fear) away!
The cable cars had multiple stops and at each were full of families skiing, snowboarding, and even doing a unique sledding thing that I do not know the name of. There was also a little lodge which was similar to something you'd see at any ski resort, except for the fact that it had an amazing view of the Swiss Alps.
There was this insane path just hugging the mountain called First Mountain Walk, which I planned on doing until I saw it (lol, again scared of heights). I would have probably done it if I was wearing better quality boots, but my boots had no grip and I was scared of slipping on the snow (which I did multiple times while I was thankfully away from the cliffs). If you look closely in the photos above though you can see my bad a** friends who did the whole walk (so proud of you Tess & Sydney)!
We did find that the lodge led to the end of the mountain walk and so I cheated and just did the ending (which was still very scary, but worth it). As cliche as it sounds, I love pushing myself out of my comfort zone and this totally did it for me! Also, can we talk about this view?!
Fondue
Grindelwald was full of a bunch of charming restaurants and cafes! We decided to try Switzerland's iconic cheese fondue here! From the minute I walked in it immediately smelt like I was physically inside of the cheese round. To be honest, I did not love it because the certain cheese we got was very salty and strong. But, it was all about the experience so I embraced it! Don't lose hope though because I have so many friends that loved their Swiss fondue experience, so I would suggest doing research and it will be well worth the calories ;)!
